Irvine's new book, Reheated Cabbage, is published on July 3rd. The book will be launched by a reading on 7th JULY at 6.30 pm in FOYLES BOOKSTORE, Charing Cross Road, LONDON W1. "It's a collection of nineties stories that have gone out of print in the anthologies or magazines in which they were published. "

Irvine is currently at work on SKAGBOYS, a prequel to Trainspotting. "It's basically about how Renton and Sick Boy went from being daft young guys just out for the buzz on drugs, to total junkies. It shows how their attitudes and behaviour start to change as they become more defined by the drug and the culture around it. It basically looks at how British politics, economy and culture dramatically changed in the eigthies, and the ramifications of that for the youth of the time. "

There are several other projects that Irvine Welsh has varying degrees of involvement or association with. These are the films; The Meat Trade, The Man Who Walks, September, Soul Crew, The Choir, Filth, Porno and Ecstasy. As Irvine Welsh himself says: “The development of independent feature film projects is invariably a long, arduous and frustrating process. I’ve learned never to talk about them at least until the first day of principal photography, and preferably till after the wrap.”
